Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Awqōt team ("Awqōt," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data when you use our mosque prayer time and announcement display platform (the "Service"), in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 ("PDPA").

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Who We Are

Awqōt provides a prayer time and announcement kiosk display platform for mosques. For any questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at support@awqot.app.

3. What We Collect

When you sign up for and use Awqōt, we may collect:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and contact number
  • Mosque profile information: mosque name, address, postal code, contact details, website, and logo
  • Content you upload: announcement slides, images, and files for display on your mosque's kiosk
  • Mosque verification documents: if you are applying to activate a new mosque, we collect two documents to verify your mosque's identity and operational status — an official letter reflecting the mosque's name, UEN, and address, and a recent document evidencing operational status (e.g. a utility bill or tax invoice)
  • Technical information: basic usage and device data needed to keep your kiosk display running reliably (e.g. connection status)

We do not collect payment information for Singapore mosques, as the Service is provided free of charge to Singapore-based mosques.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your mosque's account and kiosk display
  • Operate and maintain the Service, including keeping your prayer time display accurate and your kiosk connected
  • Send account-related communications (e.g. confirmation emails, password resets, service notices)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve and maintain the reliability and security of the Service
  • Notify our team internally when a new mosque account is created, for operational visibility

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for marketing or advertising purposes without your separate, explicit consent.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

We collect and use your personal data based on:

  • Consent you provide at signup
  • Legitimate business purposes reasonably necessary to operate the Service you've signed up for (e.g. keeping your kiosk running, providing support)

6. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored using third-party cloud infrastructure providers. Your mosque's data is stored using the following infrastructure:

  • Database, authentication, and configuration data: Supabase, hosted in Seoul, South Korea.
  • File storage (announcement slides, logos, background images): Cloudflare R2, using Cloudflare's default global network (not pinned to a specific jurisdiction).

If any of your data is stored or processed outside Singapore, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable standard of protection, as required under the PDPA's Transfer Limitation Obligation.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party service providers to operate Awqōt:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and (for some data) file storage
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (account confirmations, password resets, notices)
  • Cloudflare — file/media storage

These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually/technically restricted from using your data for their own purposes.

8. Data Retention

We retain your mosque's account and personal data for as long as your mosque's account remains active on Awqōt. If your mosque's account is closed or discontinued, we retain the associated data for up to 3 years thereafter, after which it is permanently deleted, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Mosque verification documents are handled differently: they are retained only until a decision is made on your mosque's application. Once approved or rejected, both documents are automatically and permanently deleted from our systems, regardless of the retention period described above.

9. Your Rights

Under the PDPA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • Withdraw consent for us to collect, use, or disclose your personal data (note: withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the Service to your mosque)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@awqot.app.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or loss, including access controls scoped to your own mosque's data and secure cloud infrastructure.

11. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk of significant harm, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) and affected individuals as required under the PDPA, within the mandated timeframe.

12. Children's Data

The Service is intended for use by mosque administrators and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
