What the congregation sees
A short explainer of the Caption Bar and the image overlay for slide decks — what shows on the display, and how it differs between the two — so you know what to expect before you go live.
Quick answer
While the khutbah is live, its extracted text shows in the Caption Bar across the bottom of the display, up to 3 lines at a time. Choosing Image overlay in the Caption Bar control on Live Session Control Panel (awqot.app/present) doesn't replace that text — it swaps what's behind it, from a plain coloured bar to an image you've uploaded. The text keeps advancing with Prev / Next exactly the same either way. With a slide deck, the same gallery works differently — there's no caption text, so the image sits over your slide on its own. If you tap the khutbah tile to turn the caption text off, the text goes away and the khutbah is no longer live.
The text, always
The Caption Bar sits across the bottom of the display and shows your khutbah's current slide while the caption text is on, whether Image overlay is on or off. It's built to hold up to 3 lines of text per slide — if a slide's text would run longer than that, the extra is simply not shown, which is why khutbah text is broken into fairly short slides during extraction, and why merging several slides into one long line during review is worth avoiding. Image overlay — a background, not a replacement
Choose Image overlay in the Caption Bar control (the right-hand choice), and an image you've uploaded becomes the bar's background instead of the plain theme colour — any image the mosque wants to show there: mosque branding, a program title (Kuliah Maghrib, Kuliah Dhuha, Program Pagi Jumaat), or a PayNow/donation QR code.
This works differently depending on what's live. With the khutbah and its caption text on, the text stays on top and keeps advancing normally — the image is the backdrop behind it, not a replacement for it. With the caption text off, the left choice reads None, and Image overlay shows the image on its own with no text. With a slide deck, the control is simply called Image overlay (None or Image overlay), and the image shows over your slide with nothing on top of it.
Images come from the gallery you upload in the Live tab of your Mosque Admin Dashboard (awqot.app/admin) — see Panel images and Caption Bar for how to add and reorder them. Once you've uploaded some, tap the one you want from the thumbnail grid that opens on Live Session Control Panel to make it the current background. Each thumbnail has its name under it; names can be set, and changed with Rename, in the same Live tab. Prev / Next still pages through your khutbah text independently of which image is showing.
Choosing the image before you go live
You can choose Image overlay from the Camera tab on Live Session Control Panel before pressing Start Camera — it's remembered and applied the moment the khutbah goes live, so there's no need to set it again after starting. You can still switch it at any point during a live session too.
Arabic text
Arabic slides — the opening formula, salawat, and Quran citations — are shown right-to-left with extra line spacing, since Arabic diacritics need more vertical room than Latin text to stay legible. This applies to the caption text regardless of whether Image is on.
